Janet Lee Greene Askew, 60, of Eure, NC passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
A native of Gates County, NC, Janet was the wife of 40 years to John Mills Askew and the daughter of Percival Delmar Greene, Jr. and Mary Ann Simpson Greene, both deceased. Janet was a long-time member of Eure Baptist Church. She retired from the United States Postal Service as Postmaster for Gatesville, NC. After retirement, Janet kept herself busy doting on her precious grandchildren, traveling with family, participating in church activities, gardening and working in the yard, and going to the Outer Banks. Amongst all, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family. Janet loved life and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, John; three daughters, Ashley Stallings and husband, Shelton, Leeza Askew and husband, Kyle Badgett, and Sarah Askew; two grandchildren, Abigail Stallings and Logan Stallings; sister, Anita Greene Johnson; brother, Percy Greene and wife, Karen; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Rob Johnson.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Eure Baptist Church, 295 Corner High Road, Eure, NC with Pastor Joe Bourn officiating. The family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall with a time of visitation and reception from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eure Baptist Church.
