Janet Bosman

Janet Lurraine Bosman (Backstrom), age 82, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Born on February 17, 1943, in Bellingham, Washington, Janet was the daughter of Bert and Mildred Backstrom. She grew up surrounded by a close-knit family and carried that sense of connection throughout her life.
Janet was a devoted mother to her four children: Brenda Brown, Brian (Shirley) Shemick, Sandra (John) Tharp, and Mary Jo (Raul) Vega. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren-Katie (Brett), Andy (Chelsea), Megan (Ben), Zachary (Maleigha), Caleb, Jacob, Adam, and Mason-and thirteen great-grandchildren-Jimmy, Payton, Evelyn, Trenton, Chloe, Connor, Grace, Liam, Scarlett, Nellie, Harper, Ellianna, and Mavrick who all brought her immense joy.
She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Larry (Carol) Backstrom; sister Linda Riddle; sister-in-law Gail Backstrom; and brother-in-law James Caldwell. Janet's extended family included numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many cousins who cherished her presence in their lives.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; Bert and Mildred Backstrom, brothers; Ken and Bob Backstrom, sister; Marlene Caldwell, her sister-in-law; Betty Backstrom, her brother-in-law; Harry Riddle, her grandson; Ethan, and her nephew; Tommy Chitwood.
A woman of simple pleasures and enduring spirit, Janet found joy in reading and playing Bingo. She had a special fondness for sunflowers - bright symbols of warmth that reflected her own gentle nature.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Isabella Grace, 137 S Front St, Dowagiac, Michigan.
