Janet Broughton was born on May 3, 1954, in Millville NJ to Dorothy Broughton and the late Theodore Sample, Sr. Mother Broughton, as she was affectionately called, transitioned from this earthly world to her heavenly home on Thursday, June 19, 2025. She was educated and graduated from the Millville Public School District. She attended Cumberland County College and attended Remnant Bible College.
JB, as she was known to some, worked at Wheaton Glass, H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, the election Polls and Prudential until her retirement. She dedicated her life to Christ and made it her business to share Jesus to all she came in contact with. She was a faithful and dedicated member at Abundant Life Praise and Worship center under the leadership of Bishop Timothy Everett, Sr. She served as a Missionary, sang on the choir and could be seen Ushering any and everywhere. She lived and believed in doing whatever her hands would find to do. She was known for making everyone feel loved and important. Mother Broughton loved worshiping and praising God. She was a Woman of STRONG faith. In her free time, Janet loved thrifting, traveling, taking care of her mother, spending time with her grands and watching "In the Heat of the Night."
Janet leaves behind to cherish her memory; her mother, Dorothy Broughton; step mom, Emily Sample; children, Taray Broughton, Sr., Tiareia Nicholson (Tyheem), Tawanna Broughton(niece); siblings, Barry Broughton (Veronica), Janice Broughton, Linda Broughton, James Broughton(Loretta), Timothy Broughton, David Broughton (Lian), Theodore Sample, Jr., Kevin Sample and Kevin Milbourne; Life Long Best Friend, Lisa Wright; six biological grandchildren, Layanna, Taray, Jr., Elijah and Ya'Shur Broughton, and Serenity and Jaél Nicholson; along with a host of special grandchildren; two stepsons; and five stepdaughters; special daughter Rachel Wells; special sister; Tina Weeks; special granddaughter, Amira Corley; god children, Nekeva Townsend, Latoya Holland, Latoya Wright and Stephanie Turner; along a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
She was preceded in death by; her father, Theodore Sample Sr.; one sister, Laura Broughton; two brothers, Vernon and Donald Carter; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Her Favorite Scripture was Psalms 91 "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
Funeral Services will be held at Crusaders For Christ Evangelistic Church, 33 Reeves Rd., Bridgeton on Saturday, June 28th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery, Steep Run Rd., Commercial Twp.
