Janet S. Cabral, 89, of Naugatuck, beloved wife of the late Henry J. Cabral, passed away on September 24, 2025, at Waterbury Hospital. She was born on November 14, 1935, in Whitinsville, MA to the late Walter J. Stankiewicz Sr and Marie (Dupre) Stankiewicz.
She was employed as a payroll specialist for Uniroyal Inc. and Allied Signal during her working years. She was an avid reader throughout her life and truly enjoyed watching the stories on the Hallmark channels because of the happy outcomes of each show. She was a life-long basketball fan from her high school days earning her letter in basketball to the later years following the UCONN women basketball teams.
She leaves behind three children, Shirley Drost and Michael Cabral, both of Naugatuck, and Stephen Cabral of Plano, Texas. Additionally, she leaves behind several in-laws, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter J. Stankiewicz Jr. along with several brother and sister in-laws.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, CT. A Memorial Service will conclude the celebration at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Janet’s memory, contributions are requested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
