Janet Cassiday

Janet Louise Cassiday of Sanford, Michigan, died at MyMichigan Medical Center, Midland on December 4, 2025. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and could not wait to reunite with her husband Jerry. Even though she loved all 5 of her kids she loved being a grandmother even more. And she was the absolute best grandmother. Nothing made her light up more than when she got to see all her grandkids. That love earned her the title "grandma the great" from her grandkids. Janet loved bird watching, playing Bingo, going camping, and would never pass on an invite to a warm place in the winter. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed every minute of it. She readily hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year Eve's parties for her family. She also looked very forward to the weekly euchre days with her sisters who she adored. Janet married Jerry Cassiday in June of 1958. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2021.
Janet is survived by her children, Lyndy Anger, Cyndy Sasse (Gary), Wyndy Johnson (Elvin), Jerry Cassiday (Jackie), and Terri Smith (Dave); 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Rosalyn Young, Joyce Wahl (Richard) and Vikki Mitchell; her sister-in-law Peggy VanEver; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law Mike Anger; her brothers Kenneth VanEver and Bob VanEver; and her brothers-in-law, Joe Young and Mitch Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Mount Haley Township Hall, 3012 S. Homer Rd., Merrill, MI 48637.
Memorials in Janet's name should be directed to the donor's favorite local food bank or shelter.
