Janet Marie Gilson

MAPLETON: Janet Marie Gilson 83, passed away September 24, 2025 at her home in Mapleton. She was born August 18, 1942 in Mapleton, the daughter of Howard "Ted" and Dorene E. (McPherson) Archer. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked as a stay-at-home mother, except for the years she worked at the restaurant owned by her sisters, Mapleton Lunch. She was also a cub scout den mother, and could talk to anyone where ever she went. Janet is survived by her three sons; Donald Gilson Jr. and his wife Jeannie, Douglas Gilson, Dennis Gilson and his wife Susan, two brothers; Howard "Pete" Archer and Lewis Archer, two sisters; Pamela "Chickie" Adams, and Bonnie Robbins. Her grandchildren and their spouses; Kyle and Erin Gilson, Sara and Nathaniel Postell, Kelsey and Andrew Paterson, Dylan Gilson, Briana Gilson and her boyfriend Daniel, great grandchildren; Aella Postell and Arabelle Gilson. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Donald Gilson Sr., a son Daniel Gilson, her parents, and three brothers; Alan "Ernie", Timmy, and Kevin Archer. A graveside service will be held 11AM October 11, 2025 at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton with Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. A celebration of life will follow at Chapman Ridge Runners Club Town Hall Rd. in Chapman. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowers Funeral Home in Presque Isle.
