Dr. Janet Campbell Haymon, age 82, of Chandler, AZ, and formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024. Born on September 29, 1942, in Pittsburgh, she was the beloved daughter of the late Walter and Blanche Campbell.
Janet was the loving mother of Penny Palm Felton (Howard), Dr. Donald E. Palm III (Nekisha), and Walter C. Palm. She was the cherished grandmother of Brandy Ervin, Brandon Palm, Donovan Palm and Qu'Riya Burgess and the dear sister of Iva Jean Dehoney. She was preceded in death by her siblings Eva Boston, John Campbell, Sarah Vaughn, and Evelyn McFarland. Janet is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her dearly.
A lifelong educator, Janet was known for her fierce independence and her commitment to social justice. She marched to the beat of her own drum, championing equal treatment for her family and advocating tirelessly for those she loved. Janet was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and deeply involved in philanthropy and social causes. Her vibrant personality left a mark on all who knew her.
Arrangements entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.

Dr. Haymon was my very first principal at William Penn over 26 years ago. She was very helpful during my first year of teaching. I thought of her often. Just recently I mentioned something she had said to me my first year that came true in the field of education.
She was near and dear to my father as well, he passed in October.
God bless the family during this difficult time.
