Janet Hattie Hemphill

Janet Hattie Stapleton Hemphill, age 82, passed from this life to her eternal home on Saturday, November 2, 2024, while in the loving presence of her family and in the comfort of her home.
Janet was born January 28, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late Dale and Margie Stapleton. Janet married Russ Hemphill on January 4, 1960 in Huntsville, AR. They have been blessed with over sixty-four years of wonderful memories made together. Janet and Russ have been members of the Church of Christ in Monett where many of these memories have been made with their church family.
Throughout her life, she was a housewife, bookkeeper in the grocery business and helped on the farm. She loved flowers, gardening, sewing and quilting.
She is survived by her husband, Russ Hemphill; her three daughters, Melissa Hendrickson, Dalene Hall and Lynn Lillegard; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one on the way; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; and all of her siblings, three sisters, Viola Castle, Mary Swafford and Barbara McFarland; three brothers, James Stapleton, Raymond Jr. Stapleton and Jerry Stapleton.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Arnhart Cemetery, East Purdy, MO with Deny LeMaster officiating. Memorial contributions have been suggested to Fair Haven Children's Home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
