Janet Lynne Higgins, 70, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her residence.
Born on May 24, 1955, in New Castle, Janet was the beloved daughter of the late George (Sidney) and Lottie (Allshouse) Moore, who passed away in 2013 and 2018, respectively. She was also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Betty Higgins, who passed away in 2019.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, whose life was characterized by warmth, melody, and a deep connection to nature. For 52 years, she shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her husband, Richard.
She had a deep love for the outdoors, spending countless hours meticulously gardening and caring for her yard, where she enjoyed peaceful bird watching. Her passion for music was infectious; she possessed a beautiful singing voice that brought joy to her family and friends.
Before retiring in 2020, Janet dedicated many years to Lowe's, where she was the trusted Lawn and Garden Specialist.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Richard Higgins. She was a cherished mother to four children: Kerry (Jason) Alberico, Devin Higgins (Jessica DeLillo), Jessica Higgins (Robert Taylor), and Kylee Higgins (Adam Kotlinski). She was a doting grandmother to six grandchildren: Alexander and Brayden Alberico, Deacon Higgins, Taliyah Frobe, and Stella and Sadie Kotlinski. Equally, she was the proud great grandmother to Lottie and Sawyer Alberico. She is also survived by her siblings, Gail (Tom) Sidletsky of Sheridan, WY and triplets, James, Julie, and Jeffrey Moore, all of New Castle, PA.
A celebration of life will be held at William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel, 926 Cunningham Avenue, on Saturday, November 15th from 2:00-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to support pancreatic cancer research, a cause close to Janet’s heart, primarily through the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network)) at PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org.
