Janet Kay Lewis of Elkins, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on August 27, 2025, at the age of 79 following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She spent her last few days surrounded by her immediate family. A devoted and compassionate nurse, Janet dedicated 53 years to the nursing profession, providing exceptional care and comfort to countless patients and earning the admiration of colleagues and community alike. Her unwavering commitment to service defined her career and resonated deeply with all who were touched by her kindness. Born and raised in Randolph County, Janet remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life. She was known not only for her professionalism, but also for her gentle spirit, warm presence, and genuine concern for others. A private graveside service will be held for family and close friends to honor Janet's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Randolph County Humane Society (PO Box 785 Elkins WV, 26241), a cause dear to Janet's heart and reflective of her love for animals and her generous, giving nature. Janet's legacy of caring will continue to live on through the lives she enriched, both in the nurse's uniform and beyond. 2nd North will never be the same. The Tomblyn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Janet Kay Lewis.
