Janet Licate Obituary
She was born September 1, 1939, in Gettysburg to the late John W. and Mary E. (Miller) Staiger. Janet was the widow of Joseph J. Licate who passed in 2008.
She was a 1956 graduate of Gettysburg High School. Janet was a licensed battlefield guide in Gettysburg where she grew up. She loved dogs and was a very accomplished and proud breeder. Janet was a longtime member of the AKC (American Kennel Club). She was once awarded AKC breeder of the year. Janet loved the outdoors, especially gardening around her home.
She is survived by her loving son, Michael A. (wife Connie) Licate of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Michael A. Licate Jr. of Summerville, SC, Joshua (wife Virginia) Licate of Carlisle, Jessica (husband Donald) Paxton of Gardners, and Jennifer (husband Edward) Corriveau of Elizabethtown; one great-grandson, Nickali Licate; one brother, Karl Staiger of Charleston, SC; and one sister, Jean (husband Richard) Sutton of Columbus, OH. In addition to her parents and her husband, Janet was preceded in death by one son, Timothy J. Licate and two brothers, Jim and Leo Staiger.
Services and burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
