Janet Sue McAlpine

Janet Sue McAlpine, 76, of La Porte, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at her home with family by her side.
Janet was born in Chicago Heights, IL, on July 28, 1946 to S.J. and Hazel (Reeder) Summers.
On August 19, 1967 in Park Forest, IL, she married Thomas W. McAlpine who survives. Also surviving are her son, Thomas L. McAlpine; sister, Linda K. Turner; sister-in-law, Mary Stilts; brother-in-law, David C. (Elizabeth) McAlpine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin McAlpine; and siblings, Ted Summers, Phyllis Gifford, Lois Olson, Aaron (Helene) Summers.
Janet worked as a registered nurse for 36 years before her retirement. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Janet's hobbies were gardening and reading.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Cremation will take place following the service.
