Janet Crawley McNeely, a beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted wife, was born on October 15, 1944, in the charming town of Lattimore, North Carolina. She traversed this earthly realm with grace and compassion, and she left us on February 6, 2026, in the very place that cradled her early years.
A proud graduate of Crest High School, Janet embraced life with a spirit that was as nurturing as it was joyous. For 58 wonderful years, she shared her life with her husband, Bobby J. McNeely, with whom she built a home filled with laughter and love. Their union was a testament to the enduring power of partnership and devotion, shining brightly through the years.
Janet's legacy is underscored by her cherished family. She is survived by her son, Shane McNeely of Lattimore, NC, and her daughter, Tanya Putnam and her husband, Bo, also of Lattimore, NC. Her grandchildren, Tyler and Zoey Putnam, were not only the light of her life but also the recipients of unending warmth and affection. The bond she forged with them will forever echo in their hearts.
Moreover, Janet is remembered fondly by her brother, Charles Crawley, of Lattimore, NC, and her sister, Helen Alexander and her husband, Larry, of Mooresboro, NC. They carry forward the memories of a sister who brought joy and love into their lives.
In the tapestry of her life, Janet wove a multitude of passions. A culinary artist at heart, she relished in cooking and baking, often delighting friends and family with elaborately decorated cakes. Her green thumb flourished in her garden, where she tended to blooms with the same care she bestowed upon her loved ones. Most precious to her were the moments spent with family, especially those shared with her grandchildren, where every laugh and every story became a treasured memory. She embraced all animals as kin, lavishing love upon her pets as if they were family members.
Janet’s parents, William Crawley and Eva Scruggs Crawley, and her brother, James Crawley, predeceased her, leaving a legacy of love that Janet embodied throughout her life.
As we gather to honor her memory, we invite all who knew her to join us on February 10, 2026. Visitation will commence at 10:00 AM, leading into the funeral service at 11:00 AM, both held at Cleveland Funeral Services & Crematory located at 2518 W Dixon Blvd, Shelby, NC. This will be a time of remembrance, reflection, and celebration of a life well-lived.
In the quiet moments of remembrance, let us carry forward Janet's spirit, a beacon of love, dedication, and familial devotion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
