Janet Mefford, 79, a Levittown, PA resident for 70 years, entered eternal rest on May 14, 2025. She lost her husband, Bud Mefford, of 63 years in June of 2024. Janet is survived by her daughter Karie Richards (Mike) and son Rodney Mefford. Grandchildren Michael and Brian Richards (Kait) and Kyle Bell. Great grandchildren Natalya Hilgar, Caleb and Gemma Dales, Weston and Brody Richards. She is also survived by siblings William Forsyth (Barbara), Harry J Forsyth, David Forsyth and Diane Forsyth as well as many nieces & nephews. Janet was predeceased by granddaughter Danielle Mefford.
Janet worked as a Home Health Aid for many years in Bucks County where she thoroughly enjoyed caring for the elderly. Later, she was employed by IMS Health, a pharmaceutical research company where she was employed for 15 years. She then found herself caring for the elderly, once again, while employed by Seniors Helping Seniors.
Janet's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was an enthusiastic gardner and had many beautiful gardens surrounding her home. The kitchen was her most favorite place to be. During the holidays, she would spend weeks baking dozens of her most delicious Christmas cookies and at Easter, chocolate goodies galore. She proudly shared her creations with family, friend's and neighbors, Her family will surely miss her meatloaf, macaroni & cheese, baked beans, biscuits & gravy and Christmas breakfast casseroles. For birthdays, she was always sure to bring your favorite birthday cake to the party. She also loved practical jokes and decorating for every holiday. Janet was a passionate Phillies fan who watched their games regularly and got to enjoy a few in person at CBP.
Her creative spirit brought so much joy to all of her family and friends.
Janet passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and will be deeply missed.
A private service was held at Beck Givinish Funeral Home on May 18, 2025.
