Janet Cline Murray, a beloved member of the Wilmington community, passed away peacefully from natural causes on February 23, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on August 18, 1941, in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, Janet led a life marked by dedication, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Janet's formative years were spent in Roseboro, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her close-knit family. She graduated from Roseboro-Salemburg High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from Pfeiffer University. Her commitment to helping others was evident throughout her career as a Speech Therapist with New Hanover Public Schools, where she worked tirelessly until her retirement to improve the lives of countless students.
A devoted member of Carolina Beach United Methodist Church for many years, Janet exemplified the spirit of community service and fellowship. She had an enduring love for gardening and could often be found tending to her beautiful plants. Known for her generosity, she never met a stranger and delighted in sharing succulents as gifts with those she cherished.
Janet was passionate about supporting veterans' charities, a cause close to her heart. Her gentle and giving nature also extended to her sweet dog, Dixie, who brought joy and companionship into her life.
Preceded in death by her husband, Norman "Ray" Murray; her parents, William Harvey and Ruby (née Norman) Cline; her sister, Norma Jean Fleming; and her brother-in-law, Willie Williams, Janet leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
She is survived by her nephews, Willie Edward (Beth) Williams, Jr. and Ricky Cline (Phyllis) Williams; her great-nephews, Cory Chandler and Stratton (Chelsea) Summers; her great-niece, Shelby Lynn (Jake) Williams and their daughter, Mila; her friend Dean Reavis and his son, Tyler; and all of her mountain family, who will forever cherish her memory.

A visitation will be held at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation, 1535 S. 41st Street, Wilmington, NC 28403 on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 12 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Oleander Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Ray. Janet's warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
