Janet L. Nein, 87, of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Lancaster General Hospital due to complications following surgery. She was born on February 12, 1937 to the late Herbert and Mary (Anthony) Range. She predeceased by her loving husband who she so very much missed after 65 years of marriage, Robie Nein who passed on March of 2020.
Janet enjoyed spending time at both the beach and in the mountains. She and her husband enjoyed bus trips, gardening, and spending the weekend in the mountains. She enjoyed shopping on Fridays, trips to Burger King, and visiting with Rhea getting her hair done. More than anything she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who always put a smile on her face. Most importantly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
She is survived by her children, Robert "Bob" Nein and wife Paige, and Carol Nein and spouse Linda Newcomer; grandchildren, Mathew Nein and wife Michaela, Michael, Jill, Paige, and Mandy Nein; great-grandchildren, Colton and Harbor Nein; sister, Grace Mathiot; and several nieces and nephews, especially Linda Gerhart. She is predeceased by her siblings, Marie Shearer, Mary Frymoyer, Emerson, Alvin, and Alice Range.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at noon at the Smedley-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 29 N. Gay St., Marietta, PA 17547 with The Reverend Martha Ambrose officiating. A time of viewing will be held from 11 AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow the service at Marietta Cemetery, Marietta.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to her church St. John's Episcopal Church, 239 E. Market St., Marietta, PA 17547.
