Janet S. "Street" Parks

Janet Parks was born on October 14, 1923 in Felton, Delaware, the daughter of the late Robert Street and Agnes May Hansley. Born in a farmhouse in Felton, she was raised and educated in the Kent County School System. She attended Union School in Frederica, Benjamin Banneker Middle School in Milford, and later received her high school diploma from Delaware State High School in 1967.

Janet married the late James E. Parks, and the two shared a loving marriage until his passing in 2005. Together, they raised four children: Oscar Mosley, Thomas Mosley, Debra Williams, and William Parks.

She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Faith and community were central to Janet's life. She was a devoted member of New Beginnings Community African Methodist Episcopal Church, the Nanticoke Indian Association, and the Red Hat Society. She was also the founder of the Frederica Senior Center, where she created a welcoming space for fellowship and care.

Janet lived a full and vibrant life. She enjoyed decorating cakes, crocheting, singing, painting, and collecting antiques. She also loved traveling abroad, discovering new places, and making memories with her family. Most of all, she cherished time spent surrounded by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Parks; her daughter, Debra Williams; and her son, William E. Parks.

Janet is survived by her sister, Dolores Winston (Robert) of Dallas, Texas; her sons, Oscar Mosley (Linda) of Felton, Delaware and Thomas Mosley of Frederica, Delaware; her grandchildren, Michael Mosley, Lisa Gurdy, Derrick Williams, Omegga Williams, Anna Mosley, Robert Mosley, Christopher Mosley, Jasmine Mosley, and Amanda Mosley; as well as a host of cousins, relatives, and cherished friends.

Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Williamsville Cemetery.
