Janet Irene Perkins-Menoken, age 66, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born on August 4, 1958, in the same city she called home throughout her life, Janet's journey was marked by faith, family, and a deep love for bringing people together.
A proud graduate of Coronado High School in the class of 1976, Janet went on to study Business at Wichita State University. Her professional path led her to the Pikes Peak Work Force Center, where she dedicated herself to helping others find meaningful employment and build better futures.
Janet's spiritual foundation was rooted in Trinity Baptist Church, where she grew up attending services with her family and sang joyfully in the youth choir. Her musical gifts continued to bless many as she later served as pianist for Trinity Baptist Church, Perfect Peace Baptist Church, and New Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church. Her music was not just a talent but a ministry that touched hearts and uplifted spirits.
On January 1, 2013, Janet married Joseph Menoken. Their union was one of mutual care and devotion. As Janet faced the challenges of multiple sclerosis in later years, Joseph stood faithfully by her side, offering unwavering support and love.
Janet was a Christian who believed deeply in the power of family and community. She found great joy in cooking for those around her-whether it was a holiday feast or a simple meal shared with laughter and stories. Her kitchen was often filled with warmth, delicious aromas, and open arms for anyone who needed comfort or companionship.
She is lovingly remembered by her brother James S. Perkins Jr.; sisters-in-law Denise Perkins, Lois Menoken, and Irene Menoken; step-siblings William Perkins and Jonnell Hilton; nephews James A. Perkins (Jessica) and Kyle R. Perkins (Kate); six great-nieces and nephews; as well as a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Lydia Wynona Grandy-Perkins and Rev. James S. Perkins Sr., whose legacy of faith continues through those they raised.
A celebration of Janet's life will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 11:00am at Angelus Funeral Chapel in Colorado Springs. Visitation proceeds service from 9:30am to 11:00am
Her smile and quick wit will be missed dearly by all who knew her. We are comforted by the belief that she now stands at the right hand of the throne with Jesus and those loved ones who went before her. May her memory bring peace to all whose lives she touched.

Joe and Jimmy, our heart is broken with the news of Janet´s passing. Janet was born in our birthday when we were 12,(Sharon and Karen Patterson. We loved Janet for her beautiful spirit and gorgeous smile. She lived with us for 2yrs in Wichita Kansas and played the piano at Saint Mark United Methodist Church for the youth group. That was the gift that God blessed her with. She is now with her mother and father and her Aunt Minnie, my mother no more pain. I thank God that we had her for our precious cousin, we have a lifetime of memories. You are in our prayers Joe and Jimmy. Blessings
