Janet Rhoades

Janet Kopack Rhoades passed away on December 1, 2025 at her home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. She was 90 years old. Janet was born on March 14, 1935 in Westbury, NY. She is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Kopack.
Janet was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz, an elementary school teacher at Balmville Elementary School in Newburgh, NY and, for many years, the Director / Librarian at the Sarah Hull Hallock Free Library in Milton, NY.
Janet was pre deceased by her beloved husband Edgar C Rhoades, her parents and siblings Rosemary, Robert and William. Survivors include her daughter Nancy with her Husband Chuck Benfer of Milton, NY, her son Richard Rhoades of Saugerties, NY, Grandchildren Elora Benfer of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Eliza Benfer of Milton, NY and Charles Benfer IV of Baton Rouge, Louisiana as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Janet made fast and long term friends wherever she went. She loved people and conversations. She had many great qualities that made her a great and loving mother, sibling, aunt and friend but she excelled at being a grandmother. She kept in touch and up to date with all of her grandchildren. She wanted to be present in their lives and she succeeded. Of all that she accomplished in her 90 years, being a grandma was her favorite.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 9th from 8:30 to 10:30am at DiDonato's Funeral Home in Marlboro, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am at St. Mary's Church in Marlboro, NY.
Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middlehope, NY
