Janet Elaine Roberts, born on July 2, 1963 to Roy James Modkins and Addie Ray Hearsley, in Marlin, Texas, sadly passed away on January 21, 2025. Janet was a vibrant individual whose kindness and welcoming spirit touched the lives of many. Known for her great sense of humor and her ability to make others feel at ease, she was often described as the life of the party. Her passion for computers reflected her inquisitive nature and zest for life.
Throughout her life, Janet demonstrated unwavering devotion to her family, the community, and her faith. She joyfully embraced her role as a faithful servant to the Lord. Janet's proudest accomplishments included her work as a Youth Director and Sunday School teacher, where she inspired the younger generation. Her beautiful voice of worship resounded at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, further showcasing her deep commitment to her faith and her church community. Janet was affectionately known to many as "everyone's Auntie," a testament to the loving and nurturing relationships she fostered.
Janet leaves behind her devoted husband, Leroy Roberts, and her stepson, Leroy Anthony Roberts, along with her loving siblings: Angela Hardeman, Anniece Butler, Linda Jimmenson, Pasty Evans, Ruby Mann, Ernest Hearsley, Donnie Butler, and Anful Butler III, Jesstine Butler, Norris Jackson, Roy Modkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy James Modkins and Addie Ray Hearsley, and her stepfathers, Anful Butler Jr. and Willie James Hill; sister, Doris Barnette; brother, Wilford D. Hearsley; nephews, Phillip Taylor Jr. and Zachariah Taylor, Willie Modkins.
Visitation services will be held at Winsteads' Funeral Home in Mathis, Texas, on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral service will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at First Baptist Church located at 404 S. Bee St., Mathis, Texas followed by interment at Cenizo Hill Cemetery in Mathis, Texas. This gathering will provide family and friends an opportunity to celebrate Janet's life and the cherished memories they shared.
Janet Elaine Roberts will be deeply missed, yet her legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
