Janet Marie Roche

Janet Marie Roche passed away at home on February 8, 2026. Born on April 22, 1961, Janet was

the daughter of the late Thomas and Barbara Roche. She spent her early years in Pittsfield, MA

and Coventry RI, graduating from Coventry High School, Class of 1979. Mechanically inclined,

she started a career as an automotive mechanic working at Sears and Roebuck and retired her

career in the auto industry with Clay Chevrolet in 2006. She then took on the role of elevator

constructor working for Otis Elevator IUEC Boston Local 4. She excelled in her apprenticeship

program becoming a MA state licensed Elevator Mechanic. Her willingness to help others made

her stand out as a true professional. She was referred to as "the glue that held it all together,"

and upon her retirement was recognized for her "lasting impact on those she worked with and

the broader labor community."

She lived for her son Peter, days on the beach – particularly in Aruba – delicious food which

included her signature Caesar salad, and time with her family. Janet looked forward to her

annual girls weekend in Maine, weekly dinners with the "North Shore" girls followed by a good

poker game and wrapping up the weekend with Sunday football. She found great joy in her cats

Maze, Cleo and Raya. Janet could fix anything, and so many friends and family are grateful to

her for sharing her time, tools, and love of a good project.

Janet leaves her partner Nancy McMahon and their son Peter Dario, her siblings Marianne

Young, Barbara Roche, Catherine Kotrba, and Francis Roche, her nieces and nephews, cousins,

and cherished friends. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother Thomas Richard, her

sister Claire Marie, and her brother-in-law Thomas Young.

A private celebration of Janet and the joyful, sober life she lived will be held at a later date.
