Very sad to hear about Jan. I haven't seen her in a long time but I think I always believed I would. Now that she's passed, all the wonderful memories come to mind.My boss and I joined a Friday night league at the newly opened Don Carter's in Baton Rouge. For some reason we had trouble fielding a 5 person team for more than half the season. He and I were the only two regulars on the team, that is until Jan showed up. Now we had 3 and not only was Jan a great bowler, the three of us had a fantastic time together. I think he and I were among the first friends Jan made after arriving in Baton Rouge as you could imagine the bowling alley as a first stop for her to make friends. We were all young transplants, Jan from Milwaukee, myself from Kentucky and my boss from New York. I can remember helping her move into the Warwick apartments and then eventually out to some place off Sherwood Forest. She had some sort of ridiculously heavy marble topped sideboard thing that almost cost me my fingers moving it up to a second floor. I told her she ruined my bowling hand. Whether it was holding court at the bowling alley, trying to convince the restaurant they overcooked her rare steak, or putting some jerk in their place, I'll never forget our friendship and the times we had. I'll miss you Jan.

Dear Christine, Laurie and Jim, my heart breaks for you. We will never forget wonderful memories with Janet. I love you Janet. This weekend we celebrated you and all our 1968 classmates from St Therese. I am sure you were with us in spirit.

My cousin Janet was a strong and determined woman. She had a strong spirit and held on to hope. She loved life and was determined. In the end, ugly, evil, unfair, unrelenting cancer took her from her friends and loved ones. Though she fought it with all her might and gave it quite a battle.
I believe she is in a better place now and with family and friends she loved and cared about who have past before her.
My condolences to her family and friends. I am sure Janet would want you to be well and stay strong knowing her suffering is over and she is in a better place. Live, love, care, hope...

Oh, Janet, I had no idea you were ill. To her family, I express by greatest condolences. I have to say, every time I hear a Bob Segar song, I think of you, every time I hear the word Courvoisier, I think of you (the Indiana '80s version of bar brandy), and to the woman, or should I say girl, who new the words to all the mid
60s songs playing on the transistor -- quite the feat -- who knew it wasn't "looked out in my mind" but "no doubt in my mind", job well done! You were your own person always, Janet, and you will be missed but always remembered.
