Janet L. Seman, 85, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, September 12, 2025.
She was born on January 30, 1940, in Auburn, Indiana, to Walter Winfred and Beatrice E. (Ruehart) Lepley.
Janet was a 1958 graduate of Ashley High School. She attended Ball State University for a short time before choosing to marry the love of her life, Robert C. Seman, on January 17, 1959, at the Ashley United Methodist Church. They shared 66 years of marriage before his passing on February 27, 2025.
Janet's first job was working in the candy section at the W.R. Thomas 5 & 10 in LaGrange. After raising her children, she returned to the workforce and spent 18 years as a baker in the cafeteria at Lakeland Jr. High School.
Following retirement, she and Bob found joy in volunteering together at the LaGrange Food and Clothes Basket and World Missionary Press. They also shared a love of traveling and explored much of the United States and Canada.
Janet gave her life to Christ at the age of 12 and remained a faithful servant throughout her life. She was a devoted member of the LaGrange First Church of God, where she taught Sunday School for an incredible 55 years. She also led the 55+ group for two decades, alongside Bob.
She is survived by her daughters, Sally (Randy) Eaton of LaGrange, IN, and Brenda (Dave) Lozowski of Fresno, OH; her sons, Thomas (Deb) Seman of Howe, IN, Andrew (Jill) Seman of Constantine, MI, and Timothy (Patti) Seman of Wawaka, IN; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sandra (Curtis) Rhoads of Hudson, IN; a half-sister, Connie (Herbert "Rusty") Richards of Cromwell, IN; a half-brother, Jack Lepley of Angola, IN; step-siblings, Delora Mann of Angola, IN, and William (Sally) Lepley of Leo, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Delora Lepley; her twin sister, Judith Richey; a brother, Dickie Lee Lepley; and a grandson, Rich Alan Eaton.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Parkview Home Health & Hospice nurses and staff-Dawn, Samantha, Kathy, and Sue-as well as to her caregivers, Amy Click and Marilyn Ott, for their outstanding care and compassion for Janet.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the LaGrange First Church of God, 777 N. Detroit St., LaGrange, IN, with Rev. Rich Laskowski officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, IN.
Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Janet's honor to The ARC of LaGrange County, LaGrange First Church of God, or the LaGrange Food & Clothes Basket.
