Janet Marie Smith, 87, of Wooster passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare.

Jan was born in Medina on March 6, 1938, and was the daughter of Forrest and Thelma (Gingery) Uhler. She graduated from Norwayne High School in 1956 and retired after working 30 years as an Executive Legal Assistant in the Law Department at Rubbermaid, Inc. and worked as a cashier at the Wayne County Speedway. After retiring from Rubbermaid, she owned Pro-Claim & Business Services in Wooster doing bookkeeping and assisting individuals with medical claims. Jan was a member of Sterling United Methodist Church, the Wayne County Professional Secretaries and the Wooster Women's Bowling Association. Bowling was a longtime enjoyment as was golfing, doing crafts and working puzzles. Jan loved to travel having visited many countries and many States and was a great Cav's fan.

Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Liz and Rick Shaffer of Orrville; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kathy Smith of Orrville; grandchildren, Erin Shaffer and her husband Stewart Clark, Charlie and his wife Erica Shaffer, Ashley Smith and her husband Matt Feltner and Tyler Smith; great-grandchildren, Adria, Harper and Henry Shaffer and Sutton and Cecelia Clark brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Marilyn Uhler of Creston and sisters, Betty and her husband Mike Sheppard of Creston and Patricia Grosjean of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great-granddaughter, Payton Feltner, and brothers, Paul, Ronnie and Larry Uhler.

Services will be Saturday, July 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of services. A private family burial will be held at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 who the family wishes to thank for the wonderful care they gave to Jan.
