Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - Beavercreek ChapelJanet Marie Stookey, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving family in Kettering, Ohio. Born on February 21, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio, Janet's life was a testament to the strength of love and the bonds of family.
She worked for many years as a Tax Preparer and Accountant, using her keen intellect and attention to detail to assist others with their financial needs. Earlier in her life, she ventured into the world of real estate, showcasing her ability to connect with people and help them find their perfect homes.
Those who knew Janet often remarked on her loving and caring nature. She was a strong-willed woman who never hesitated to speak her mind, and she was adored by all who had the privilege of being part of her life. Her family was her greatest treasure; she doted on her sons—Robert (the late Gail) Stookey, Jay (Lee Anne) Stookey, and Timothy (Cyndi) Stookey—and her daughters, Kandace and Janice Stookey. Janet's legacy continues to flourish through her 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren who all hold her memory dear; her son-in-law, Russ Cline; her sister-in-law, Jan Troup; her extended family and numerous friends also remember her as a beacon of warmth and joy.
Janet found happiness in her hobbies, particularly in crafts and attending craft shows. She loved playing BINGO and could often be found with her nose in a good book, lost in the stories that sparked her imagination. Her love for animals was evident in her fondness for her dogs, who brought her comfort and companionship.
She now reunites with those who preceded her in death, including her beloved husband, Wallace Stookey; her parents, Harold and Jean Troup; her daughter, Deanna Cline; and her siblings—Nancy (Ronnie), Rodney, Patricia, and Marilyn. Their memories will forever be a part of Janet’s enduring spirit.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio. Burial will immediately follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens, in Xenia.
