On March 16th, 2024, after 78 years, Janice Lipps Blevins left her earthly body to inherit her glorified body; one that is incorruptible and eternally free of any imperfections.
The first of five kids, Janice was born August 5th, 1945 in Hazel Green, Kentucky to the late William 'Tip' & Zudia Elam Lipps. Janice spent her younger years growing up in the Northern Kentucky & Cincinnati area, before her parents and siblings relocated to Berea, KY in the late 60's.
On May 17th, 2005, she married the love of her life, Greg Blevins. They enjoyed the best 15 years of their lives together, until his passing on February 25, 2021.
Janice worked a variety of jobs in the medical field, but she was most remembered as a switchboard operator at Pattie A Clay hospital and working at Central Kentucky Eye Associates. Not having any biological kids of her own, her most important role was simply, "Aunt Janice". As she helped to raise and deeply cared for her nieces, nephews and the younger generations of hers and Greg's family.
Once retired, Janice loved to go traveling, attend church at New Hope and Crestview Holy Sanctuary. Cooking to feed her family, and having loved ones gather at her house was one of her favorite past times. She loved the holidays and loved to cook peanut butter fudge to distribute as gifts to her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Janice was preceded in death by her only brother Michael Lipps, a sister Judy Blanton, and a special niece Paula Beth Taylor.
Janice is survived by her sisters: Margie Sandusky, and Lucy (Gaines) Cummins, a special sister-in-law Kathy Lipps, a brother-in-law Paul Blanton, her step-mother June Lipps, step siblings Marietta (Jerry) Maggard, Pam (Bill) McCoy and Flip (Gene) Wooten. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends both near and far. She is also survived by a close and dear friend Betty Goins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Rev. Chuck Elam & Rev. Greg Cress officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
