Janice Pamela Breon, 78, of Knob Noster, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in her home.
Janice was born in San Francisco, California, on April 13, 1946, to Earl and Peggy Leona (Trippe) Raby. Her family moved to Missouri during Janice's elementary school years, and she graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City; then, earned her Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) and Master of Science in Education degrees (Curriculum and Instruction) from UCM's antecedents. She was consistently an admirable scholar and was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in 1989 and the Professional Fraternity of Phi Delta Kappa, in 1990.
She and Leonard K. Breon married on July 1, 1967, in Kansas City, Missouri, and they lived in Las Vegas during the remaining three years of his service as an officer in the United States Air Force. They returned to Missouri in June of 1970, where Janice initially taught in the Research College of Nursing; then, secondary school chemistry and gifted education in the Lone Jack and the Raytown school systems. The Missouri Association of Rural Education named her as its Outstanding Rural Secondary Teacher in 1995; and she's taught several Curriculum and Instruction classes at UCM as an adjunct professor. She's also enjoyed travelling, internationally, during the summers and after retirement (Europe, Africa, South America, and five summers, studying Spanish, in Mexico) with her husband, Leonard.
Janice's survivors include her husband, Leonard; their two sons: Leonard Kendrick Breon II (wife, Jeniffer) of Knob Noster, Mo., and David Michael Breon (wife, Evelyng Katherine Astudillo Sánchez) of Warrensburg, Mo.); and four grandchildren: Nicole, Mack, Abby and David Leonardo. Her parents, Earl and Peggy Raby (Seager); her sister, Saundra Coon and her two half-brothers, Al and Gary Raby, preceded her in death.
There are no scheduled public services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg.
