Janice "Jan" Brink, 75, longtime resident of Windham, NH, formerly of Salem, NH, and Winchester, MA, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Community Hospice House with her loving family by her side. Jan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and love.
Jan was born on May 31, 1949, to the late William and Phyllis (Nelson) Leighton in Winchester, MA. She was raised in Winchester and attended local schools. She enrolled at Connecticut College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.
Jan married the love of her life, Daniel Brink, in February 1972. Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage, rarely leaving each other's side.
A long-time resident of Windham, Jan found joy in simple pleasures of life - gardening in the summer, walks through her neighborhood, and spending time with family at Lake Winnipesaukee. Her love of reading led her to volunteer at the Nesmith Library, where she shared her passion for books with the community.
Jan enjoyed a very successful career at Martel Electronics, ultimately retiring as Vice President of Manufacturing. Her time at Martel wasn't just professional - she formed lifelong friendships, and often met with her close-knit group for dinners and evenings out.
Jan embraced her golden years. Her flowerbeds bloomed, and she rarely missed a grandchild's event-be it sports games, concerts, or academic achievements. Her presence was a constant source of joy to her family.
She also maintained ties to the community of Laurens, South Carolina, where she visited her son and his family in the spring and fall. Whether in New Hampshire or South Carolina, Jan had a gift for making others feel at home.
She will be remembered for her warmth, her laugh, and the deep love she showed her family and friends every day of her life.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother William Leighton III.
Jan is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Brink; her sons Timothy Brink and his wife Erin, of Windham, NH, and Jeffrey Brink and his wife Anna, of Laurens, SC; her sister, Sally Clutter of Concord, MA; and her five grandchildren, Tyler, Delaney, Dylan, Hannah, and Will.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Thursday, June 26th from 4 – 7 PM at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. At Jan's request, guests are encouraged to wear bright spring and summer colors. She wished for this to be a time of joy and remembrance, so please come ready to share stories filled with love and laughter. Private burial will take place at Cemetery on the Plain in Windham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jan's memory to one of the three organizations that meant so much to her.
