Janice was born October 28, 1942 in Norton, Kansas the daughter of Clay and Bernice (Flowers) Swank. She graduated from Hill City High School in 1960. On November 26, 1960 she was united in marriage to Donald Brungardt. Janice is survived by her two daughters: Pam Blouin (Patrick Tovar) of Abilene and Gayla Whiteley (Leonard Donaldson) of Assaria. Grandchildren: Ross Shirack(Beth Herpich); Cody Whiteley (Mellisa); Ethan Blouin (Shaylee) and Baylie Blouin (Bethany Rice). Great-Grandchildren: Nadia Whiteley, Jonathan Shirack and Kollen Shirack, Brother: Leroy Swank (Nancy) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald, son, Todd Brungardt and a brother, Ronald Swank.
Through the years Janice helped support the family performing various jobs -Sewing and running a small material shop with Rita Homman, mowing yards with Jeanna Pohlman and helping Marge Jacobs at the Pizza Hut. In later years she owned and operated Super Tan and Copper Tan until she retired.
Janice enoyed going on many trips and excursions with life long family friends over the years. Her coffee group in Salina was another favorite past time. Most people knew Janice for her love of everything Kansas State University. She was rarely seen wearing anything but purple. Janice was the ultimate Grandma. Supporting all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their endeavors.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, both located in Solomon. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-7PM at Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Solomon. The family suggests memorials be given to USD 393. Memorials may be dropped off or mailed to Carlson-Becker Funeral Home, PO Box 308, Solomon, Kansas 67480. Online condolences may be sent to www.martinbeckercarlson.com
