Janice Ann Clausen (McAuliffe), 76, passed peacefully on July 30, 2025 at her home in Reno, Nevada.

Janice was born July 26, 1949, in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Daniel and Janie McAuliffe. Raised in Malin, Oregon on the family ranch, Janice enjoyed her time raising and attending to the animals, especially the sheep. Known as the "Spud Queen" of Malin, Janice graduated from Malin High School, and moved to Reno, Nevada, to attend the University of Nevada. She met her husband James Clausen at college, and graduated in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in education. She later earned her master's in administration from the University of San Francisco in 1991.

After graduating from college, she devoted more than 25-years as a teacher, administrator and mentor. The majority of her career was spent working at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, where she was a teacher, dean and vice-principal and impacted many of her students, influencing their future until her retirement in 1999. In each of those roles she worked unselfishly to improve the education and growth of her students.

She spent her retirement focusing on her passion for arts and crafts, including scrap booking, crocheting and having craft days with her grandchildren, and taking care of her beloved dogs. Janice was a thoughtful person who put the needs of others before her and loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Clausen, her two sons Danny and Tim Clausen, her two daughters-in-laws Jessica and Jessica Clausen, and her four grandchildren, Charlotte, Violet, Stella and Lola Clausen. She is predeceased by her father and mother, her siblings Cornelius McAuliffe, Ellen Smalley, Eddie McAuliffe, and Mary Brady, and her granddaughter Brynn Clausen.

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at Blackrock Wine Company beginning at 3 p.m. on the same day.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Janice's name.
