Janice Arnelda Colgate, 83, formerly of
Sullivan, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 13, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born on September 7, 1941, in Herculaneum, Missouri to Arnold and Ethel (Wiles) Aldridge.
On May 7, 1959, Janice was united in marriage to Doyle Eugene Colgate and with this union there were three children born: Cynthia Lynn, Candice May, and Chad D. They spent most of their life raising their family in California before moving to Missouri in 1986 to be closer to family. Over the years Janice worked at her dad's Chevron gas station and also spent time as both a caregiver and a security guard. Prior to retirement she worked at Paramount Headwear.
Janice loved spending time with family and had a strong love for animals. Over the years, she cared for a long list of pets-her loyal dog, Shadow, two raccoons, an opossum, two monkeys, a parrot and more. Janice also loved taking trips with her kids and grandkids. Some memorable destinations included Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, various plantations in North Carolina and ghost chasing in Savannah. She attended many of her grandkid's band competitions, football and soccer games. One of her favorite things was riding on the motorcycle with her son, Chad, as he always had an adventure for her. She enjoyed crocheting, watching John Wayne movies, and listening to the Statler Brothers, George Strait, and other 50's music.
Janice is survived by her children: Cynthia Wilson and husband Raymond of Owensville, MO, Candice Schebaum of
Sullivan, MO, Chad Colgate and wife Christy of Cheyenne, WY; 9 grandchildren: Amanda Villa and husband Luis of Las Vegas, NV, Matthew Wilson of Melbourne, FL, Austin Mesey of Reno, NV, Aaron Mesey of Kansas City, MO, Kaitlyn Schebaum and Emma Schebaum, both of
Sullivan, MO, Emily Colgate and Rhiannon of Cheyenne, WY, Grace Colgate of Laramie, WY and Henry Colgate of Cheyenne, WY; two sisters: Noralee Buchanan of Leasburg, MO and Karen Leza and husband Roy of Japan, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; her parents, Arnold and Ethel Aldridge; a sister, Faye Einfalt; and a grandson, Dustin Allen Wilson.
