Janice Patricia (O’Neil) Ehinger, aged 88, passed away comfortably to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 88 at her home after a lengthy illness. Janice was born on June 6, 1936, to James Virgil and Frances (Kroeckel) O’Neil in Cleveland, Ohio. Her family relocated to Tucson, Arizona where she met and married the love of her life, Willliam Edward Ehinger. Janice and Bill moved to West Branch with their family in 1968.
Janice had a full life as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in the local community in her many positions as a nurse at Tolfree Memorial Hospital as well as matron and cook of the Ogemaw County jail when her husband Bill was Sheriff. She had a servant’s heart and was actively involved with the start up of: I Can Cope, Hospice of Helping Hands, and St Vincent. She also worked with VFW Auxiliary, Salvation Army, Food Pantry, St. Joseph VBS, Roving Volunteers in Christ Service, and Love in Action.
Janice is survived by her husband William Edward Ehinger and their children are: Frances King (David), Cynthia Harris (David), William Ehinger ll (Genie Swanson), Lynette Vukelja (Vaughn), Timothy Ehinger (Shelley Dee), Rebecca Grace-Prenger (Norm), and former son-in-law Mark Grace. Janice was so very proud of her 23 grandchildren (Laura, Aaron, Carrie, William, Patricia, Matthew, Emily, Bethany, Katie, Seth, Anna, Jenny, Maggie, Sarah, Elise, Christopher, Elizabeth, Michael, Whitney, Zach, Zane, Zander, Zarek), their spouses, and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and twin brother James O’Neil.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in West Branch.
