Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson - Larson Funeral Home, Minot on Dec. 28, 2024.
Janice Dawn (Olson) Feickert was born in
Minot, ND on June 28th, 1945, to George and Thelma (Stave) Olson. She grew up on the family farm north of Blaisdell with her brother George, Jr. and sister Betty. She loved her brother's trucks, cars, and toys instead of "girl stuff" leading her to a lifetime of fixing mechanical things.
She attended grade school in Blaisdell and went on to graduate from Stanley High School with the Class of 1965. From there she helped on the farm and tried several different career paths before settling on going to ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, earning a degree in small engine repair. This led her to a lifetime of maintenance jobs. She worked for the Burlington Northern Car Shops in Minot and Mandan, Drummec Amtrak Service in Minot and for the City of Berthold Maintenance Department. Later in life she drove school and sports busses for Berthold and was also their janitor for a short time. She also became the grounds keeper for Walther Park and Wild Rose Cemetery both in Berthold. A job she loved and took very seriously, both were always immaculately manicured.
She was blessed with two sons. Brian was born in 1983 and David in 1987. She drove the sports bus to all her boys Football games and enjoyed watching them play. She also enjoyed watching her boys at rodeos in bareback riding and bull riding.
Janice was many things to many people. To her boys she was the best mom ever! Her love and devotion to them was unconditional. To her grandchildren, Jordy and Ellie, she was the grandma who loved to spend time with them either bringing them treats on Sunday mornings after church or watching them reel in fish at Deep Water Bay or attending their activities. To all the people she worked with over the years she was a kind, hardworking, willing friend who always did her best without complaining. To the rest of us who also cared so deeply for Janice, she will be forever missed. She loved her Lord Jesus and is now done working and at Home with Him. Rest fully in His Peace, Janice. Your life was truly an example of a life well lived.
Janice is survived by: Sons: Brian (Lindsay) and David (Kayla); Grandchildren: Jordy and Ellie; Brother: George (Susie); Nieces: Stephanie and Alyssa (Fred); Nephew: Marshal (Angie); several cousins, nieces, nephews and three sisters-in-law. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Betty Rae.
