Janice E. Johnson

Janice (Jan) E. Johnson of Glen Rock Pennsylvania, age 80, passed away December 7, 2025 at York Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born September 4, 1945 in Bel Air, Maryland to Austin and Velma (Greene) Clawson. She married her husband, John Johnson June 22, 1962.
Above all else, Jan loved being a mom to her three daughters and wife to John. Jan was a member of, and active at, Gunpowder Baptist Church, and formed strong friendships with her church family. Jan had a gift for prayer, and prayed tirelessly. She was also quick to give all glory to God. One of her favorite Bible verses was 1 Corinthians 16:14: "Let all that you do be done in love" and this was a guiding principle in her life.
Jan enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and reading. She also loved to decorate her home and was an amazing cook. When her children were still at home, she participated in York County Homemaker's Club and Women's Christian Club and she never missed a school chorus or play. When her children were grown, she worked part time for an optometrist. As her children started families of their own, she learned the pure joy of being a grandparent.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John. She is also survived by her children, Kathleen Russell, Melissa Raine (Furman), and Courtney Johnson Wasylenko (Joseph); grandchildren Joshua, Rachel, and Molly. Jan is also survived by her siblings, Harold Clawson, Ronald Clawson, David Driever, and Diana St. Marie.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Janice's life will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 11:00AM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastor Cameron Updyke officiating. The interment will be held privately. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10:00AM – 11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jan had a generous heart and believed strongly in giving.
