Janice Maness, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, departed this life on March 9, 2025, at the age of 84 in Finger, Tennessee. Born in the Center Hill Community of McNairy County, TN, she was the cherished daughter of the late E.W. and Georgia Carl Melton Moore.
She was a graduate from Chester County High School, class of 1958. On April 22, 1960, she united in marriage to Harold Maness, marking nearly 65 years of love and companionship. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and love.
Her professional life spanned many years at Garan Manufacturing in Adamsville, TN, before dedicating 24 years of service to the citizens of McNairy County in the Trustee's office and later, the Clerk's office. Her commitment to her community reflected her caring spirit and generous heart.
A member of the Enville Methodist Church, Janice found joy in her community activities, being an active participant in the Enville Community Club and the Women's Republican Party of McNairy County. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, and cooking. Her skill in quilting became a beloved hobby that brought her great happiness. Janice also treasured traveling and creating lasting memories with her family and friends.
Mrs. Maness leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth through her devoted husband, Harold Maness of Finger, TN; three sons: Ronald and wife Cindy, Richard and wife Melissa, Bobby and wife Jo; a daughter, Sherry Kendall and husband Rick.
She was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Leslie Maness and husband Matt Harris, Kevin Maness and wife Meg, Julie Smith, Matthew Maness and wife Tiffany, Nicholas Maness, Madison Hatch, Brady, Grayson, Boone, and Reid Kendall, Noah Wolfe and wife Kennedy, Abel Wolfe, and Ritchie Smith and wife Jessica; four great-grandchildren: Annaleigh Byrd, Walker Wolfe, Timber, and Oaklyn Smith.
She is also survived by her sister, Maxine Crowell and husband Nelson; her sister-in-law, Glenda Moore and husband Nelson; as well as many cherished nephews and nieces: Greg Martin, Randy Martin, Mark Crowell, Mike Moore, Hailey Short, Dana Sanders along with their families.
Mrs. Maness was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Jo Martin; in-laws, Claud and Allie Maness; sister-in-law, Sue Nell Frazier; and daughter-in-law, Tanya Maness.
As we remember Mrs. Maness, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with kindness, laughter, and love for family and community. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kirkland Cancer Center in Jackson, TN.
