Janice D. Morgan, age 65, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Janice went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1960, in Independence, Louisiana, and was raised in New Orleans, LA, from a young age. She was a retired administrative assistant in the Human Resources Department at Xavier University of Louisiana. Janice attended Francis T. Nichols High School in New Orleans and was a new member of New Hope Baptist Church in Zachary, LA. She was deeply devoted to her husband, Andre, of 39 years, and her three children. Janice was an avid sports fan, a Saints supporter, but often cheered for whichever team was winning at the moment. Janice was the daughter of Charlie Davis and Delores Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Andre Morgan, Sr., Clementine and Lester Morgan Sr., Etta Campbell, Ruby Reese, Dorothy Collins, Ronnie Davis, Charles McGee, and Albert Lewis, Jr. She is survived by her brothers, Anthony Davis and Nathaniel Davis; her brother-in-law, Lester Morgan Jr. (Sheila Morgan); and her sister-in-law, Linda Morgan Lewis (Albert Lewis, Sr.). She is also survived by her three children – Jaime M. Elsey (Derek E. Elsey, Sr.), Andre L. Morgan, Jr., and Kerry J. Morgan (Kennedy W. Morgan); her two grandchildren – Genesis N. Elsey and Derek E. Elsey, Jr.; her niece and nephew – Tonya Morgan Anderson and Lester Morgan III; her godchildren – Rasha Bergeron, Kriston Barnes, and Tyneka Watson; along with a host of extended family and friends. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Grace Nursing Facility and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their compassionate care shown during Janice's illness.
