Janice Sue Pierce

Janice Sue Pierce, 80, of Welch, WV, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 19, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born November 14, 1945, in Coalwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Gaylord and Pearl Billings Kirk.
Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Janice had a heart full of love and a spirit that made every day feel like home. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life-watching Gunsmoke and The Price is Right, getting lost in a good book, cooking up meals that became traditions, and decorating her home with festive cheer for every holiday. But more than anything, she adored her grandchildren and poured her heart into their lives, always offering encouragement, wisdom, and warmth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lewis Pierce; her daughter, Cheri England; three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Denise Pierce of Welch, WV, and Deanna (Michael) Justice of Lerona, WV. Janice's greatest joy was being "Grandma" to her cherished grandchildren: Candace (David) Burnette of Rock, WV; Lewis (Jenny) Pertee of Princeton, WV; Terri (Raymart) Agovida of Florida; Harley Pertee; and Alex (Alexus) Justice of Lerona, WV. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, and two spoiled grand-dogs who brought her endless smiles. She is also survived by her loving sister, Wanda Polsinelli of Michigan; her brother, Curtis Kirk of Florida; and a very special family friend, Tina Tickle. Janice leaves behind a host of extended family and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA with Rita French officiating. Burial will follow. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
