Janice Belle Hoover Shelor, 89, of Blacksburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Janice was born in Radford, Virginia, on February 9, 1936, to the late Virginia Taylor and Giles Melvin Hoover. Janice was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Guy French Shelor; her son, Guy Steven Shelor; siblings Marita Graham, Giles Hoover, and Roy Hoover; and many cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law. Janice retired from the Virginia Tech Printing Department, where she formed many lifelong friendships. She and Dude enjoyed traveling together and with friends. She was known for her warm heart and generous spirit-always ready to share her love through her wonderful cooking and baking. A talented crocheter, Janice created countless beautiful pieces for family and friends. She was a devoted member of Blacksburg Christian Church. Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughter and husband, Stevee Sue and Seth Johnson; great-grandchildren Kaiden and Adalyn; sister Arlene Garnand; brother David Darrell Hoover; and sister-in-law Mary Adam, along with many friends who were dear to her heart. Per Janice's wishes, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, at 11 am at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg, with Pastor J.B. Beane and Pastor Gary McCoy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blacksburg Christian Church, 240 Watson Avenue, Blacksburg, VA 24060. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
