Janice Ruth Shuler

Janice Ruth (Gothing) Shuler, 84, of Boylston, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Janice was born on June 7, 1941, in Worcester, daughter of the late Carl and Julia (Kallio) Gothing. She attended Commerce High School and was a graduate of the class of 1959. She worked as a key punch operator at Heald Machine and Cincinnati Milacron for several years until the business left Worcester. She then was a receptionist for the Lutheran Home in Worcester until she retired.

Janice loved her family and friends. She loved going outside and raking, the route 12 area, watching AGT, and reading newspapers. Janice was as a kind and simple woman who was personable with others.

Janice had two sons, Stephen and Gregory, a daughter-in-law, Susana, four grandchildren, Stephen, Erik, Kal-el and Cole, and great granddaughter, Freya. Janice had five siblings, Charles Gothing, Carol McCarthy, Elaine DeCouto, and two brothers who predeceased her, Allen Gothing and Frederick Gothing. Janice also had many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel is honored to assist the family with arrangements. Janice will be laid to rest at 1:00pm on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston, Massachusetts.
