Janice Snyder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brubaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Catasauqua on Dec. 13, 2025.
Janice "Nin" Snyder, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and spirited community member, passed away peacefully late in the evening on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was 89 years old. Born on July 19, 1936, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Janice was the eldest of nine children born to Mike and Emma Brosky of Catasauqua, PA.
She graduated from Catasauqua High School and pursued her passion for caring, earning her Registered Nurse (RN) degree from Temple University.
Nin dedicated her professional life to nursing, providing care and compassion at Bethlehem Steel and later serving the educational community at Lehigh County Vo-Tech.
Janice was an enduring believer in the power of physical fitness and an inspiration to all who knew her. She remained active throughout her life, enjoying tennis, volleyball, swimming, running, and skiing. She approached life with the same energy and enthusiasm she brought to the court or the slopes.
Beyond her belief in personal fitness, Nin was remarkably creative and an exceptionally active community member. Her talents seemed limitless, spanning from knitting, sewing, cooking, and arts & crafts, to her community service that spanned decades. She taught arts & crafts, provided free tennis lessons to the community, volunteered at the local food bank, coached youth volleyball, and sponsored underprivileged children from New York City and Allentown. She was truly the person you wished you could be when it came to how much she gave and cared about others.
She shared nearly 50 years of loving marriage with her late husband, Frank "Jive" Snyder, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories in Catasauqua, PA.
Janice is survived by her three children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, who were the pride and joy of her life. Surviving is her son Eric Snyder and wife Christine of Catasauqua, PA, and their children Andrew Snyder and wife Kayla, and daughter Emma. James Snyder and wife Taylor; son Marc Snyder of Lower Saucon Township, PA, and his children Madison Snyder and Olivia Snyder; AnneMarie Makle and husband Thomas of Silver Spring, MD, and their son Ethan Makle. Janice is also survived by her sisters Jean Schlener, Patsy Miller, Sandy Diacogiannis, and Michelle Haines. She was preceded in death by her siblings Ronald Brosky, Gail Gillespie, MaryAnn Murtaugh, and Jackie Brosky. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
Janice's legacy of strength, devotion, and zest for life will continue to inspire her family for generations.

I learned to play tennis when Jan was teaching adult classes at LCCC. She was a very skilled player and very intense, but also a very good teacher and very kind. I looked forward to meeting her in USTA matches to show her how much I learned from her. I´ll never forget Janice Snyder. Deepest sympathies to the family.

I am so sorry to read this. Janice and I were staff members at Lehigh county votech. We played a lot of racquetball back then. Janice was very competitive so I always wanted her on my team. She was so competent that when I left the votech she would mail her Christmas to me. We would compete to see who sent their card the earliest. One year she sent hers to me in june with an inside message "I won"! RIP Janice. I know you will be rocking´ it in heaven!
