Janice was born February12, 1950 in Howell, MI. Janice grew up in Howell and was the fourth out of five children. She graduated from Howell High School in 1968 and then went on to Olivet Nazarene College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Janice was a teacher for 17 years, 14 of those years at Fowlerville Community Schools. She had a passion for music, teaching children, and serving in her church, most recently as an attendee of Argentine Church of the Nazarene. The real loves of Janice's life were her 10 grandchildren. She found the most joy out of life in sharing her love of reading and music with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Loleta Smith, her sister, Mary Lou Harrison, and her daughter, Alison Wakeman. Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Martin Wakeman, and her three children, Amanda (Matthew) Way, Bart (Paula) Wakeman, Bret (Jennifer) Wakeman, along with her brothers, Wally (Joan) Smith, Gene (Judy) Smith, Don (Denise) Smith and brother-in-law Rick Harrison, ten grandchildren, Austin (Kelsey) Wakeman, Tori (Alex) Sutliff, Isaac Way, Logan Wakeman, Madison Wakeman, Gabby Wakeman, Ethan Way, Dean Wakeman, Jack Wakeman, Gibson Way, and great-grandson, Oliver Wakeman.
