Janice Lorraine Yourchak, 72, of Bellefonte, passed away at her home on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Melvin "Bud" and Eleanor (Podges) Keener.
Janice was a 1971 graduate of Ashtabula High School in Ohio; after graduating she attended Kent State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In January 1999, she was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Records Technology from SUNY College of Technology in Marcy New York. Janice began working in Ripon School District in Wisconsin from 1975 – 1977, after teaching she was employed as a medical claims' approver for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York from 1980 – 1995. Most recently Janice could be found working in the deli department at Weis Markets in Bellefonte. In her free time Janice enjoyed crocheting, she was also an avid reader and enjoyed all types of books. She loved her family pets, especially her dogs, Mandy, Cassie, Dixie and cats, Teddy, Tiger and Margay.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael J. Yourchak and his wife Elizabeth of Meadville, and Nicholas S. Yourchak and his wife Courtney of Lock Haven, granddaughters, Madison, Georgia, Olivia and Penelope Yourchak and grandsons, Casimir and Leo Yourchak. Also surviving are her two brothers, Melvin Keener and his wife Kay, and David Keener both of Ashtabula, Ohio.
In accordance with Janice's wishes, services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centre County PAWS at 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801.
