Janice "Jan" Lynn (DeSilvey) Zindash, age 75, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Jan was born on February 28, 1950, in Cleveland, OH, to parents John DeSilvey and Audrey & Pete Conley. She is survived by her devoted husband, George "Rusty" Zindash, and her beloved children Dawn Leary, Deanna Ashba (Ed Jewett), and Ryan Zindash. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren MacKenzie and Madilynne Leary, Zachary and Kylee Ashba, Dameion Piert Jr., and Dana Stroud, as well as many treasured great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children Donald "Donny" Slaby, David "Davey" Slaby, and Darcy Slaby; and her sisters Karen Davidson and Jacqueline "Jackie" Lister.
Jan married the love of her life, George "Rusty" Zindash, on May 1st, 1999, in Jefferson, OH. Together they spent nearly 30 wonderful years raising their family and enjoying life's many blessings.
A proud graduate of Maple Heights High School, Jan went on to earn her Associate's Degree in Accounting from Kent State University. She retired from the OSU Extension Office and later served as Parish Secretary at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jefferson until 2020.
Jan was an active member of her community, dedicating her time as a secretary for the Rock Creek V.F.W. and the Jefferson Eagles Club, where she built many lasting friendships.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, always present at her children's sporting events and later cheering on her grandchildren at theirs. She was also a Brownie leader for many years, sharing her creativity, compassion, and leadership with countless young girls.
Jan was a faithful Catholic and lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jefferson. She had a deep love for holidays-always decorating for every occasion, with Christmas being her absolute favorite. Her warmth, laughter, and joyful spirit made every celebration brighter.
Jan's kindness extended beyond her family, as she opened her heart and home to foster children over the years, offering love and care to those who needed it most.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to the Hospice of the Western Reserve and the Ashtabula County Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14th, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32 East Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 p.m., with burial immediately following at Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jan's name to the Ashtabula County Nursing & Rehab, c/o Activities Department, to support special events for residents, 5740 Dibble Rd., Kingsville, OH 44048.
