Janie Ann Scott was born to John and Samara Scott on February 8th, 1994, in Austin, Texas. Janie was reunited in heaven with her dad, her baby and her beloved dog on May 13th, 2025.
Janie grew up in Dripping Springs her whole life and was involved in soccer, track, showed goats in 4-H and eventually graduated from Dripping Springs High School in 2012. After graduation, Janie worked a variety of jobs from being a banker and years in customer service at places like Railroad Barbecue, and the Dripping Springs Pharmacy, to being a childcare worker. Janie followed in her grandma Bessie's footsteps and found the greatest joy watching kids at Pathways at the Methodist Church, as well as the daycares Thrive and Oak Song. Janie was a pillar in her community and worked every job she had with her whole heart.
Janie was everyone's best friend and lit up every room she was in. Janie never met a stranger and never met a kid she didn't love. Janie loved her family more than anything in the world. Being a stepmom and an aunt were Janie's greatest joys and accomplishments in life. Janie radiated love and had eyes that danced with joy. Some of Janie's favorite past times were backyard barbecues with family and friends, days at Camp Ben and in nature, back roading, swimming, working out, watching TV and movies, and singing, dancing and jamming to her wild variety of music wherever she was. Janie was hilarious, vibrant and beautiful. To know Janie was to love Janie, as she never stayed mad at anyone and had a heart of gold. There will never be another person like her, and she will leave a hole in the hearts of all who knew her.
Janie was preceded in death by her father John, her grandparents Dick and Bessie Scott, her grandparents Ponty Bone and Sarah Wade, her unborn baby Jasper, her beloved dog Rasta, and countless other friends and family members. Janie leaves behind her beloved mother Samara, fiance Allan, stepdaughter Serenity, as well as her brother John, sister-in-law Anna, sister Jessie, brother-in-law Nick, her Aunt Rachel, her Aunt Susan and Uncle David, her Uncle Robert, her cousin Sharee (husband Francisco Villagomez), her cousins Patricia, Grace, Luke, Austin and Kaylee, her niece Jade, her nephew Joel, Allan's family who adores her, all of the babies that she cared for through the years and countless co-workers and friends.
The family will receive friends from 9-11 AM on Monday, May 19th with the funeral following at 11 AM, all at Dripping Springs First Baptist Church. Janie will be laid to rest next to her dad at Fitzhugh Cemetery after the funeral.
