Janie Lou Shelton, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, 86, of Cedarville, passed away at her son's home with two of her grandchildren Maria and Geno by her side.
Janie was born in Sevierville, TN to the late Dewey Williamson and Janie Chrisman Williamson. Her family moved to Seabrook, NJ and settled roots in Cumberland County. She met the love of her life Eugene "Gene" V. Shelton, Sr.; they got married on January 23, 1960 and had four children from their union.
Janie worked for Owen Illinois, Leone Industries, Kerr Glass and retired from Foster Forbes. Janie took care of her family and raised her children with unconditional love. Janie was a kind, nurturing, loving person who would do anything she could and she always opened her home for a good meal. She loved to sew, cook, bake cookies, crochet, go to the casino, and spend time with family playing poker on the weekend at her son's home. Janie loved being outside gardening and taking care of her yard. She loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart and spoiled them with her famous "Hot Dogs and Mac and Cheese" and all the snacks they wanted.
Janie is survived by; her son, Eugene V. Shelton, Jr. (Toshi) of Cedarville; her daughters, Roxanne Fuerneisen (Eddie) of Fairfield Twp. and Marge Couch of Bridgeton; daughter in-law, Nancy Shelton of Runnemede; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Eugene V. Shelton, Sr.; her son, Kevin Shelton; her parents, Dewey and Janie Williamson; and three siblings.
The family would like to thank the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice Ellen, Anu and Angelina for their care and support.
