Janine P. Barker

Barker – Janine P. Barker, age 94, of Hilliard, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025. She was born in Patterson, Georgia on November 18, 1930, to the late Oscar Royd Pope and Winnie Warren Pope. Janine's journey was one of quiet strength and unwavering commitment. She spent much of her professional life as an accountant at Eastern Wire Products, where she was known as a catalyst; someone who ensured things ran smoothly and efficiently. Her colleagues recognized her not only for her skill but also for her ability to keep operations on track. Janine achieved a remarkable milestone when she earned her bachelor's degree at the age of 85. This accomplishment was a source of great pride for her and served as an inspiration to those around her. Janine's Christian faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She studied her Bible faithfully and lived according to its teachings. Outside of work and study, Janine found joy in the natural world. She had a special fondness for plants, especially her cherished Christmas cactus and took great pleasure tending to her garden. Above all else, Janine loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. She lived a life marked by perseverance, devotion, and an enduring love for learning and family. Janine's legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Barker; brothers, Tommy Pope, David Pope; nephew, Mark Pope; and niece, Ann Marie Nesmith. Janine leaves behind her loving children, Alan (Rhonda) Barker, Thomas (Shirlene) Barker, Edie Barker, Warren Barker; grandchildren, Lara, Chris, Mae, Brittany, Hillari, Blake, Braswell, Beau; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; nephew, Gary Pope; nieces, Vicki Johnson, Terri Pope; sister-in-law, Carol Pope, Rosetta Loudermilk; and numerous other extended family members and loved ones. A Celebration of Janine's Life will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Nassau Funeral Home with Pastor John Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery.
