She was born on July 26th, 1948, in Premont, TX. She was the oldest of three siblings born to Marion Seigal and Janis Marie Calhoun. Page lived in South Texas until the age of 9 and then moved with her family to Ft Stockton, TX, where she graduated from Ft Stockton High School in 1966. Her high school accolades included being a member of the National Honor Society, a majorette and then drum major for the FS band as well as Miss Ft Stockton in 1965.
Page attended Texas Tech University earning a degree in Journalism in 1970 and an Executive MBA from the University of Houston in 1982. During the summer of 1968, while interning in Houston with the Houston Post newspaper, she met the love of her life, Christopher Lee "Kit" Haines. They married in May 1970 on the day she was to walk in graduation ceremonies at TTU. They began their careers in Houston that summer. Page started at the Houston Post. Later, with her focus and determination, she became the Promotion Department manager of the Houston Chronicle, served as President of the International Newspaper Association, and began and operated her own companies: Page One Marketing Communications and a Fortune Management franchise in Houston. Kit spent his entire career at Riviana Foods where he became Vice President of Marketing. They enjoyed successful careers for 20 years before expanding their family. Lee Calhoun Haines joined them in 1990 and Christopher Calhoun "Cal" Haines in 1992. Both were the light of their parents lives. The family enjoyed a full life and lived in SugarCreek, Sugarland, TX, for over 45 years making many wonderful lifetime friends.
Page will always be remembered for her beautiful smile as well as her never ceasing positive attitude, tireless energy, calm demeanor, fierce friendships, huge heart, her never changing love for others and her deep love for Jesus Christ. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Houston where she served as an Elder, a Stephen Minister, began the Shepard Center, and was instrumental in starting Main Street Ministries. She loved this church and maintained countless close relationships until her passing. She was a long-time member of the River Oaks Breakfast Club, a networking organization for professional women, where she forged more trusted friendships. Her interests were expansive as was her personality. Page will be remembered by her sweet response of "Marvelous Darling" when asked by anyone how she was doing, no matter what was going on in her life.
