Janis Rotondo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cantelmi Funeral Home - Fountain Hill on Jan. 12, 2026.
Janis M. Rotondo passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital, Anderson Campus. Born on December 28, 1952, in Bethlehem, She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Marie (McDermott) Rotondo. Janis was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and warm spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Janis was a graduate of Liberty High School and Northampton Community College. She spent many years working as a Medical Lab Technician at St. Luke's Hospital and later worked in the bakery at Wegmans in Hanover Township. Outside of her career, Janis found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who always had a book nearby and enjoyed the friendships and fun she found through her involvement with the Red Hat Society. Janis was soft-spoken, incredibly kind, and never had a bad word to say about anyone, which, honestly, is a rare superpower. She joined a clown alley for a few years because apparently being delightful in one form wasn't enough. She truly loved making people laugh. She adored animals and supported many local rescue groups, and she loved to travel. Her travel stories were legendary. Some involved foreign countries, some involved emergency rooms, and all of them somehow became comedy routines. If there was a mishap to be had, Janis found it, and then told it perfectly.
Survivors: Janis will be remembered by her brother, Michael Rotondo, and his wife, Candy of Bethlehem Township, as well as her nephews, Michael J. Rotondo of Royersford and Scott A. Rotondo of Quakertown.
Services: Private and at the convenience of the family. Janis's arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Funeral Home, Fountain Hill. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Janis's name to the Lehigh County Humane Society, 640 Dixon Street Allentown, PA 18103.

To Michael & Janis' family,

We became travel friends & sometimes roommates! She was always sweet & kind & laughed a lot when we were together! Yes, I was her roomie when she fell in Naples (my only ride in an ambulance). Iceland she had a mishap & we giggled as she wouldn't give up her ice cream cone when they put her in the ambulance! She volunteered as my cashier at my mom's yard sale two times! After Naples my dad passed & although she had a sling after her fall, she came to Dad's viewing to show respect and appreciation for what she felt was kindness to her when she fell. I know she loved her cats, too. I will remember her with a smile & know she is fostering some kitties! Blessings to Janis' survivors. Hugs, Barb
