Brookfield
Janith S. Burch, 93, of Brookfield, went to be with the Lord on April 17, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Janny was born on March 7, 1931 in North Brookfield; a daughter of the late Cleave and Pauline (Atwell) Snow. On July 29, 1951 she married the love of her life, Bob Burch; a beautiful union that lasted 59 years and one day.
Janny was a graduate of Brookfield Central School Class of 1949. Upon graduating, she would work summers at the Otsego School which is now known as Pathfinder Village. Janny was most notably employed by Brookfield Central School where she worked in the cafeteria and drove bus for over 42 years. Janny furthered her time with the community children by also babysitting them.
Janny was a staple in the Brookfield community. She was a 20 year member of the North Brookfield Baptist Church, 73 year member of the First Baptist Church of Brookfield, Sunday School teacher for 60+ years, Sunday School Superintendent, taught Bible School, was a church Deacon, Women's Group Member, Director of the Food Cupboard, 4-H Leader, member of the Brookfield Historical Society and proud supporter of all Brookfield Central School Sports; especially Basketball where she was well known as a Super Fan. Janny even had her own column in the Brookfield Currier for over 60 years and the Waterville Times for 34 years. It was hard to go into Brookfield and not hear about all she did for the community that she loved so dear.
Janith is survived by her loving children, Joan Burch, of Norwich, Connie Burch, of Brookfield and Bruce Burch, of Norwich; grandchildren, Shawn (DeAnn) Cummings, Travis Sharpe, Rob (Kali) Burch and Darren Burch; 11 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lois Snow and Hazel Burch and a large extended family whom she loved dearly.
