Jared Ben Tolar, of
Knoxville, TN returned to be with his Lord Saturday January 18th, 2026 in the Great Smoky Mountains, a place he often sought to find peace and comfort in this world. Born on May 4th, 1986 in
Houston, Texas to John and Mary Lynn Tolar.
Ben attended and later graduated from Spain Park High School, and continued his education in Graphic Design in Tuscaloosa.
After a lifetime of dreaming, Ben finally married his childhood crush Jessicah Knight Tolar on December 13th, 2013 and they shared 12 years together raising 3 cherished children: Ephrym, Evee, and Gideon. In his life he held many titles, but there was none that he was more proud of than 'Father.' He worked countless jobs going all the way back to his early tween-years, but most notably he made his name known across many companies in the field of Elevator Sales, having been known for his personable nature and distinct relationship based sales approach. He was never one to turn down the opportunity to take on a new hobby, and keenly enjoyed escaping into literature, embracing the local flora on the mountain slopes with his family, arguing about how to slay the next monster in the tabletop dungeon with friends, stage diving at a local hardcore/metal show, or anything else that provided him to opportunity to meet face to face to share a great story.
His greatest gift was always that he wanted people to know that they were seen and safe in whatever the newest space he was adventuring into. Ben will be profoundly missed by the multitude of relationships and 'found family' that he made through what seemed like a never ending series of new quests and tales. He blessed us with his presence, his endless sense of humor, and constant pursuit of 'committing to the bit.' It was all a part of the charm that made him so good at uniting people throughout every chapter of his charismatic life.
He leaves behind his spouse Jessea, their children Ephrym, Evee, Gideon. He is survived by parents John and Mary Lynn, Brother and sister-in-law Drew and Molly, several nieces and nephews, and the litany of hearts he nourished everywhere he traveled throughout this life.
